This is what I think about the Tank Awards...

Posted by JonBro May. 5, 2008 @ 4:16 PM EDT

They are freaking awesome.

I think the most deserving nominees are:
Aladdin 3150
The Composer
Dad's at Work

and the most deserving non-nominee is:
"Bob, Bob and Bob"

Yo are free to post a bunch of random controversial tank award posts now.

CLEVER CONTROVERSIAL RESPONSE

May. 5, 2008 | 4:26 PM Coolio-Niato says:

Dude... Dad's at Work isn't even close to deserving as Waterlollies or The Stranger forest, which are the BEST TWO UP THERE AND YOU DIDNT MENTION THEM >=(

May. 5, 2008 | 4:35 PM JonBro responds:

Waterlollies had awesome graphics, but I didn't find it as entertaining as Dad's at Work somehow.
The Stranger Forest... I wish I could say I liked it, but it honestly bored me =(

Aladdin 3150 was still pretty dang good, though =D

May. 5, 2008 | 4:29 PM malefic-puppy says:

more seriously though, I think that leafworthy should've been nominated :(

May. 5, 2008 | 4:36 PM JonBro responds:

leafworthy?

...Why don't I know what that is?! :(

May. 5, 2008 | 4:34 PM I-smel says:

Dad's at Work is SO worthy of a nomination

May. 5, 2008 | 4:38 PM JonBro responds:

It really is!

Sure, the graphics could have been drawn by a seven year old, but the fast pace and presentation of the events is what really made it awesome.

May. 5, 2008 | 4:54 PM xthesnarfx says:

DUDE!!!1111 y wasnt my stuff up ther!!11

Just kidding, I also love most of thos games. Boss battles FTW!

May. 5, 2008 | 6:03 PM JonBro responds:

lol yes

Portal was awesome.

May. 5, 2008 | 4:57 PM Coolio-Niato says:

Adam philips has been submitting awesome shit for years, he deserves the first NG tank trophy for animation.

malefic-puppy is right though...why wasn't leafworthy nominated?! That would have been a great addition to the nominees.

May. 5, 2008 | 6:04 PM JonBro responds:

Hm... Well, yeah, that's definitely true. Adam Phillips probably should get a tank trophy for submitting the greatest quality movies... several times XD

May. 5, 2008 | 5:20 PM LtMcMuffin says:

Adam Philips is excellent at creating interesting worlds and exciting characters, but he is a lousy author?
Waterlollies is only remotely entertaining because it plays around with a bit of tension, but we are talking about the guy whose mini-flash on the front page are annoying (i.e. the girl with the stun gun), or pathetic (i.e. the guy pissing).
The things that stand out manage to tell a great story (Aladdin 3150), work on an emotional level (The Composer), or just manage to be hilarious and unpredictable (Dad's at Work).
Meanwhile, what do we have for Adam Phillips? Some furry thing that is an asshole. Great premise. Look at his demographic, his target audience hasn't evolved enough to appreciate good humor.

So shut up Coolio.

There, I was controversial.

May. 5, 2008 | 6:05 PM JonBro responds:

Yeah, that was pretty controversial. Good job!

May. 5, 2008 | 5:20 PM LtMcMuffin says:

No question mark there. He is a lousy author *insert period*
(Sorry for the double post)

May. 5, 2008 | 6:08 PM JonBro responds:

Adam Phillips is a great animator, but admittedly, his storytelling ability isn't quite as well-timed and presented as other things.

/opinion of course

May. 5, 2008 | 5:25 PM SoulMaster71 says:

Two words: Metropolis Circuit. OK, a few more words: Aladdin 3150 is good, Waterlollies is graphically amazing but only a little different from the rest of the Brackenwood series plot-wise, but Metropolis Circuit is the best on the nominee list that I actually watched. I haven't seen some of them though, like Dad's at Work, so I can't really talk about them.

May. 5, 2008 | 6:07 PM JonBro responds:

I guess part of the reason I didn't like Waterlollies as much was because Bitey was so... vulnerable. In the other Brackenwood movies, he jumped around and caused havoc without any fear. In Waterlollies, his havoc was very short-lived, and he moped around like Winnie the Pooh for a majority of the film... lol

May. 5, 2008 | 5:33 PM Flatthead says:

I agree with the composer and Aladin being nominees but coolio was right waterlollies deserves the nomination more than dad at work because the animation is smoother and graphics are better in waterlollies and I think the story is more original. Dad at work was entertaining but I don't think as much work was put into it.

May. 5, 2008 | 6:10 PM JonBro responds:

Well, obviously less work was put into Dad's at Work. Waterlollies was made by someone who worked at Disney for 15 years. Of course they'll pay more attention to all the little details of the movie =P

I just found Dad's at Work more appealing. I've only seen Waterlollies twice (one time was just because someone had it turned on at school) and I've seen Dad's at Work 15-20 times. It has a lot of replay value.

May. 5, 2008 | 5:35 PM NinjaCloneClock says:

Aladdin 3150 for movie

Sonny for game

May. 5, 2008 | 6:10 PM JonBro responds:

I haven't really played Sonny.
Portal and Detective Grimoire rock though.

May. 5, 2008 | 5:55 PM MRat says:

The Composer disgusts me in every possible way, so not that one.

I thought Dad's at Work was a pretty piss-poor sequel. It lost everything I found charming about the original, mostly due to the music, but all the way he staged his scenes.

Loved Aladdin 3150, though that lizardman thing was fairly absurd. It had the best animation out of any of them, in my opinion. Still not my first choice.

Really the one I wish would win most isn't even nominated, which is Leafworthy's The Story of Khale.

May. 5, 2008 | 6:12 PM JonBro responds:

The Composer was brilliant!! =(

Heh, I didn't know Leafworthy's movie was "The Story of Khale." I saw that. It had so-so graphics, no story, nothing about it was entertaining, and it was a blatant ripoff of Brackenwood.

May. 5, 2008 | 6:01 PM PaperBat says:

JonnBrooooo, haha, remember me :P ur never on msn anymore :( blocked me? lol. Anyway, I Totally agree with ur choices, Aladdin 3150 and the composer were both such amazing flashes, while dad at work, was highly entertaining.

May. 5, 2008 | 6:11 PM JonBro responds:

Heh, I'm never on messenger either.

May. 5, 2008 | 6:06 PM OdHero says:

Tomas et la Fraise
Waterlollies
Metrocircuit

Out of those 3 I couldn't choose.

May. 5, 2008 | 9:42 PM JonBro responds:

Tomas et la Fraise was okay. It was definitely one of the best Clock Day movies.

May. 5, 2008 | 6:07 PM Goat-Man says:

To Coolio-Niato, I didn't like stanger forest.
It was weird as shit, and too slow

May. 5, 2008 | 9:43 PM JonBro responds:

YAAAY GOAT MAN

I rather enjoy your movies, good sir.

May. 5, 2008 | 7:02 PM oreosz360 says:

Waterlollies, Madness, or Blockhead Ghostmas for me.

May. 5, 2008 | 7:43 PM Wiiporter says:

Yeah, Socklops totally deserves something.
/controversy

May. 5, 2008 | 9:45 PM JonBro responds:

I've only seen 10 seconds of Socklops. I had to go someplace. From what I saw, it looked like it could be really good. I'll have to watch it at some point, because watching David Firth's movies always change the way I look at life a little.

May. 5, 2008 | 8:30 PM Ivanovitch says:

Dad's at work? No way, that was a shameful waste leeching off Dad's at Home's popularity.

Tomas et la Fraise ftw.

May. 5, 2008 | 9:48 PM JonBro responds:

I think Dad's at Work is significantly better than Dad's Home, personally. Dad's Home was just way too randomly pointless for my taste. In Dad's at Work, Dad just did crazy things to get around and get work done faster.

May. 5, 2008 | 8:40 PM squeakytoad says:

My thoughts were more astute.

May. 5, 2008 | 9:46 PM JonBro responds:

"they're shiny" haha

Your thoughts are harder to argue with. XD

May. 5, 2008 | 10:10 PM pimp-named-slinkback says:

Yeah there are some really kick ass nominations there. I would put Bunnykill 3 vol. 2 high on my list. It was chock-full of fights and Mottis took A WHOLE DAMN YEAR to release it, or maybe more. I would say Blockhead Ghostmas was great too. But that was just my tank award post...

Now for my clever post:
a bunch of random controversial tank award posts now.

And NOW my controversial post:
I support wire tapping. The 911 conspiracy was 100% true. Handguns should be banned in D.C. Stem cell research is perfectly okay. Don't hate mail me, I did what he asked.

What this has to do with the tank awards tho, I'm not sure.

May. 5, 2008 | 10:27 PM JonBro responds:

Haha. Bunnykill 3 was absolutely fantastic. I really doubt it will get a tank award, but I would be satisfied if it did.

May. 6, 2008 | 1:32 AM FleckoGold says:

I would vote for Aladdin 3150, but then I hear that the author squats to pee and listens to Hanna Montana while drinking his own urine...of which he pisses out from squatting. Do we really want to give the best flash movie award to someone like that? HELL NO!

-Flecko-

May. 6, 2008 | 7:51 AM JonBro responds:

Wow what a jerk! I hope he doesn't post on my user page!

...OH WAIT! =D

I would vote for Aladdin 3150, but then I hear that the author unapologetically makes double posts in other people's journals for fun. Shame on him.

-st

May. 6, 2008 | 7:53 AM JonBro responds:

Hehe yeah.

I also heard he drinks his own urine while listening to Hannah Montana. Any truth to this rumor?

May. 6, 2008 | 2:48 AM e104joker says:

How can somebody hate the composer Mrat is a bitch!
He disgusts me!!
On my opinion The composer and waterolies are the best,
the composer is the god of originality because have you seen another
heart touching stoy on newgrounds on the top 50?
Waterolies has the best graphics around but stil i like the composer alot more for the story :)

May. 6, 2008 | 7:54 AM JonBro responds:

I love The Composer. It's one of the few Flash movies I've seen that almost made me cry.

I'm probably a wuss now because I said that =(

Updated: May. 6, 2008, 7:54 AM

May. 6, 2008 | 2:48 AM Hoeloe says:

3 awesome choices. I used to know Flecko, he did a hell of a fine job with Aladdin 3150 :P

May. 6, 2008 | 7:56 AM JonBro responds:

You used to know him? Why don't you STILL know him?

=P

May. 6, 2008 | 3:40 AM ShirtTurtle says:

the composer lmao

May. 6, 2008 | 7:58 AM JonBro responds:

I like turtles. Shirts too.
That's why ShirtTurtle is one of the greatest usernames ever.

May. 6, 2008 | 4:32 AM ZekeySpaceyLizard says:

the composer was the soppiest sop I ever watched.
and i am an expert in soppy things.

May. 6, 2008 | 7:59 AM JonBro responds:

We already knew YOU were soppy, Zekey!

May. 6, 2008 | 9:30 AM Nicholas-Deary says:

Dad's at Work?? And no Waterlollies? Are you feeling ok?

May. 6, 2008 | 3:53 PM JonBro responds:

Heh, well, I just didn't find Waterlollies as interesting and rewatchable.

Oh by the way, remember that NG Pass Parody I was making? I have everything but the menu and the credits done. I just thought I'd tell you =)

May. 6, 2008 | 10:00 AM squeakytoad says:

Meh. I thought The Composer was well done. Admittedly, after a second glance, it's kinda cheesy (my review of it was WAY too over-the-top), but I thought it was a good flash.
And yeah, I know that's not the "cool" opinion. I could care less.
Jazza did a good job on that piece.

May. 6, 2008 | 3:54 PM JonBro responds:

The Composer reminds me of "Dare." "Dare" is a pretty freaking awesome movie.

I'm nowhere in the nominees. I haven't gotten first of any months, any contests, or been awesome enough to be honored by the staff, besides front pages and stuff.

=(

May. 6, 2008 | 1:58 PM Shadowii2 says:

What I would say is that "the composer" AT LEAST deserves to be a nominee, I have never seen such a touchy story about music artist's life before, not to mention how well is it done too.

May. 6, 2008 | 3:57 PM JonBro responds:

Yesh.

May. 6, 2008 | 3:17 PM shadow-king94 says:

ya dads at work should win

May. 6, 2008 | 3:27 PM Yinyangpenguin says:

I just don't want someone big in flash like luis ( not that he's bad at flash ) to get an award. I mean, they probably have so many already.

May. 6, 2008 | 4:02 PM JonBro responds:

Luis is part of the Newgrounds staff, I think. I don't think he would get a tank trophy anyway. Of course, I could be wrong... I don't know exactly how the setup works.

Luis has 61 Newgrounds awards.

May. 6, 2008 | 5:19 PM MRat says:

Whoever called me I bitch, I hope you get hit by a bus. Fuck you my opinion stands.

Also, Luis is not part of the NG staff. At all. Not even a little.

May. 6, 2008 | 7:34 PM JonBro responds:

heh, oops.

I didn't quite mean staff. I know he's a mod and a good friend of Tom's. I just got that confused XD

May. 6, 2008 | 5:48 PM KingDavid says:

alddin 3150 yes .. others no

May. 6, 2008 | 7:34 PM JonBro responds:

Okey-dokey.

May. 6, 2008 | 6:13 PM Wholyish says:

while i admit i loved the animation in aladdin 3150, i think the other two have a better chance because they tell original (well... sort of for the composer) stories and are better at presenting them... not to insult aladdin 3150, i mean, that animation was... words do not exist to properly describe it.

May. 6, 2008 | 7:36 PM JonBro responds:

Here's my basic opinions on my three selections:

Aladdin 3150 - amazing animation, pretty good story
The Composer - decent animation, amazingly presented concept
Dad's at Work - minimal graphics but well-animated crazy pace and funny
