All right, I'm desperate!

Posted by JonBro Dec. 19, 2007 @ 7:54 AM EST

I am looking for a Nintendo Wii. They're selling better than hotcakes where I am. If there were any in a nearby store, they're gone whenever I get there.

Where did you get your Wii?????????????????????????

Check less common places. Places stupid mothers would go to check.

Honestly we got ours at Wal-Mart, but we had to wait all night for it. If you're really desperate call Wal-Mart every day and ask if they have a Wii shipment in yet. If they say they just did, or will by the end of the day, head over there and wait for it. Really though you should've been looking a bit more before black friday.

I really don't know, I bought it on the release date. =)

Best thing to do is get a Yellow book and begin to call ever store that sells games or game systems.

This happened with my friend, but of course he was very impatient and bought a PSP over a Wii because he did want to wait. So my word of advice is to wait and somewhere in the world a Wii will be in stock.

well do you have a friend that works at a game store? if so, he will be able to hold it for you when he gets it, and you can poay him the Wii money first. then when he calls you just go pick it up.

how do i know? ;D

Wii's don't exist. They're an invention of the media who are conspiring to get everyone upset because they don't get what they want for Christmas. The Wii that the store manager reserved for me especially doesn't exist.

Dec. 19, 2007 | 4:36 PM JonBro responds:

Then how did I play one a few weeks ago at my friend's place?

That is really strange. It must have been a figment of my imagination.

There's a ton at Kildonan Place, and a few at Walmart.
Eb games? ebay?

They're everywhere where I live.
It's the 360, and ps3 that's hard to find :P

You would have had better luck a month or so ago, but the most common way to get a Wii (and the way I got mine earlier this year) is to scope out a local Toys-R-Us or whatever similar store you have and ask when their next shipment of Wiis comes in. They'll probably tell you they go on sale on Sunday, and most likely tell you that they'll start selling them at a certain time in the morning.

Show up at the doors about two hours before the store opens and wait in line, I got there an hour and a half before the place opened and I was the eleventh person in line (there were only 16 Wiis to sell total), and this was in February, so you might want to err on the side of caution and get there even earlier since it's the holiday season. Dress appropriately and bring a book or a DS or something to do while you wait, it might be a while.

When you pick up the system you might want to pick up a game or two (aside from Wii Sports that comes with it), I'd recommend Wii Play (for the extra remote), Zack and Wiki (I don't have it, but I've heard good things) and WarioWare: Smooth Moves (great party game).

Good luck with that!

I had a friend whos parents went out at like three, went to two toys r us and got two instead of one, they game one to my family, thats where i got mine. But if they only got one, i have this friend who works at a shoprite, and we talk in school he says that they have them hidden in the back like, 11 of them, but you have to ask for them.... i recently got one for my sisters boyfriend for christmas... i would've never thought to look at shop rite. so try the places that you wouldn't expect. ok?
PS. that could mean like FYE, Borders.

PSS don't try ebay unless your totally desperate, the jack up the price as much a 2x.

It sucks to be me then.

I got my Wii at the Nintendo store, but you are very unlikly to even have one of these stores in your area.

Also, we drove a long way to this store to buy the Wii.

but whatever the pice was very good ($100 less than at gamestop).

Dec. 19, 2007 | 5:38 PM GothHawk says:

Dec. 19, 2007 | 7:35 PM malefic-puppy says:

a friend of mine was going down in a bar the night before the wii came out. they crossed the street after the party and waited in line for a wii...he was able to get one + zelda and sold it to me for an additional 50$

Dec. 20, 2007 | 12:49 PM marjosonic says:

I think you should check places where a Wii could be sold and ask if you can reserve a copy. If not, ask when they might get a new shipment. If they answer that, come on that day as early as possible and get your hands on one before it's too late. If they don't answer that, go to those places regularly to try to get it. It's either that, shop online, or go to some place you haven't tried.
P.S- I got mine with three games, two extra controlers, and two extra nunchucks at Sam's Club, but I got lucky because when I went back on the same day, they were long gone. Sorry if I couldn't you in anyway with that.
