Surprisingly addicting.

I didn't think I'd get so hooked to this game. It has a unique concept and the levels are so carefully planned out. It's kind of a mindless game to play even though there's some strategy involved, making it easier to play when you're tired or bored like I was before I started playing this.

Some of those achievements are sort of absurd though. It's a fun game, but there's no way I'd beat it 100 times. XD

I beat it.

You did a fantastic job with the hitTests. Everything in the game felt so slick and natural. Very nice job!

loool

This is definitely my favorite of the SHIFT games. It's kinda like the Kirby Cave Offensive game or the Great Maze in SSBB, but SHIFT-style, making it a whole lot more awesome.

...But why the heck is Mel Gibson the secret character?! That's LAAAME.

(Great joke btw.)

I beat all the levels!

I couldn't code this game in a lifetime. Your 2D-3D effects are really incredible.

Darn those ducks and thunderclouds >:(

Why does this not have a higher score?!

I loved this. It's like Zack & Wiki in Flash. This one is easier than the first Bowja the Ninja (seeing as I haven't beaten the first) but I can tell a lot of effort and thought have been put into both. Favorite'd. Keep making these!

LOL

It was impossible not to laugh when the credits come up. This game was epic, but not in the way I expected.

The programming was very well done, and I can tell you put a lot of effort into this little game. 9/10.

It could be better.

This game had some nice songs and some great actionscripting, but the drums tended to go out of sync with the song. Also, I think it glitched out a little, because after I finished a song, there was one note that was still stuck in the middle of the screen when it returned me to the main menu. Then it didn't save my progress. It saved my progress when I tried exiting the window again, though.

I did like the little training levels quite a bit, especially the "Hear by Ear" one. I don't think they had any of those in Donkey Konga.

Try changing the framerate to 60 for the songs. If it's already at 60, maybe I just get lag. Good luck with future projects!

Coolio-Niato responds:

Glad you liked it. The fps is actually 60 but as I said to another reviewer as well, the sync goes off cause browsers can't cope with 60 fps very well.

Guitar Hero, eat your heart out.

This game is, by far, one of the greatest Flash games ever created. A gem like this one isn't made every day. I would have felt incomplete if I hadn't beaten the entire game before reviewing this.

The graphics have improved incredibly since the second Guitar Maniac. The guitars look finer, the backgrounds and arrows look more smooth, and the beach menu picture fits very well with the rest of the game. Everything was laid out so well, too. I wasn't ever distracted when the maniac stickman floated while I was playing, and its nice to finally see all the arrows, letters, and numbers on their own bars.

I don't see why so many people are complaining about the controls. People say that having the F as an extra letter was a huge downside. I love having eight keys to press. It adds to the difficulty without making it too difficult. Also, I prefer the 1234 keys over the ASDF keys, mostly because holding the keyboard like a guitar is pretty much the greatest thing ever. I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want to play this game without holding the keyboard like a guitar.

To add to all my comments about the controls, I'll also have to say that the programming was very well-done. Every arrow and long note fit perfectly with the songs, and the note-hitting had just the right sensitivity. I've tried making my own rhythm games before. It is certainly not easy. I don't even make anything fancy. You, sir, have a gift.

The songs weren't perfect, but they were still all pretty catchy, and although they didn't have a lot of variety, they still had enough to keep my interest. The singing in a few of the songs was below par. . . But that's not your fault. The game is still amazingly fun. My favorite song would have to be the very catchy Mars Bars and Mentos. I might have to download that one really soon.

This game is more addicting than just about anything else I've ever played. I play this for hours and hours a day until my wrist aches, my fingers grow numb, and my ears start ringing. I'm pretty sure I've spent more time playing this game than I have spent playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It has more replay value, as well.

Anyone who says this game deserves less than a 10 out of 10 is obviously insane. This is--without a doubt--better than Guitar Hero. I love this game.

Haha, awesome.

To me, this game has the feel of a little puzzle/platformer console game, like Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2. It's got several fun features, quite a few moderately difficult puzzles, and a quick, simple learning curve. It even has its own Level Editor!

Awesome game! I'm glad I got to help design 50% of the levels, too. =)

Perry responds:

Lol thanks for that. Um submit to puzzle section

Thing Thing FOUR?

If I do say so myself, this is the best Thing-Thing of the series. The color scheme for the backgrounds is fantastic, the controls are simple and easy to understand, the Thing Thing body creator has a ton of options that all fit the style of the game, and the storyline is actually interesting.

This one is particularly fun, for some reason. It feels less "aimless" than the others... It felt more like you're on a mission than just jumping around while random people in the streets come out of nowhere and try to shoot you. It also has more of the quality you would see in a real console game than the others... The feeling I get in the first level reminds me somewhat of Madness mixed with Super Metroid.

All I can really critique you for is the difficulty and the slight lack of clarity. I got about 60 kills before I died on Level 1, and I wasn't sure what was supposed to be happening. I didn't know whether I was supposed to go through a door, kill a certain amount of people, or anything. Plus, it's a bit hard to tell what's going on when there's so much going on around you. I guess it's just the mayhem of the game, so you can't really fix that.

I had the graphics set to Low Quality, but the game still lagged some. I guess you can't really help that either, though... Whenever it is that Thing-Thing will hit the consoles, I'm sure the lag will be diminished, haha.

This really is a well-done game! I hope to see more from you like this.
